About this tool
Base64 represents binary data as text made of 64 safe ASCII characters. It is widely used in e-mail, data URLs, tokens and configuration files.
Text is converted with UTF-8 first, so Cyrillic, accented letters and emoji round-trip correctly. The URL-safe variant uses - and _ instead of + and / and drops the = padding.
Good to know
- Base64 is an encoding, not encryption — anyone can decode it.
- When decoding, whitespace and line breaks are ignored and missing padding is added automatically.
- Decoding data that is not UTF-8 text (for example an image) will report an error instead of showing garbage.
