About this tool

Checksums are calculated with the browser’s built-in Web Crypto API. Text is hashed as UTF-8; files are read locally and never uploaded (up to 100 MB).

A checksum lets you confirm that a download or a copy of a file is identical to the original: if even one byte differs, the hash changes completely.

Good to know

MD5 is intentionally not offered — it is broken for security purposes. Prefer SHA-256 or stronger.
Hashes are not encryption and are not suitable for storing passwords on their own.
